Mahogany Bureau - Before Restoration
This bureau is in a sorry state, it is minus 2 drawers, a bottom and bracket feet. The drawers were 'thrown away' because its owner found mice dropping in them. The bottom had been lost at some point and a piece of chipboard fitted in its place, and the fall was detached as were several other edgings.

As you can see it has been transformed. We managed to find a couple of old drawer fronts with matching grain and other drawer parts so that the replacements match beautifully.
Also a botton was found in our stock of old timbers and the feet cut from an old drawer front, so all replaced timber is of a similar age to the bureau. Of course the final task on such a restoration project is the traditional French polish and wax finish.
